The Physics of the Problem

Stadiums are among the hardest RF environments on the planet. Concrete bowl construction reflects and scatters radio signals in unpredictable ways. Steel superstructure creates dead zones in mid-level concourses — the exact spots where fans spend halftime money at food stands. Underground concession areas at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford see signal degradation severe enough that venue AV teams have had to run dedicated cabling just to keep the payment terminals alive during Giants home games. The device density numbers are staggering.
